Do solitary (Ahad) Hadith, which convey conjecture (Dhann), not establish creed ('Aqidah)?

The statement that isolated (Ahad) hadiths do not establish creed because they convey mere conjecture is incorrect, for several reasons:

1. Not every isolated report conveys conjecture. Some convey certainty if circumstantial evidence points to their truthfulness, or if the Ummah has universally accepted them, such as the hadith (definition) "Actions are but by intentions." 2. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sent individuals (Ahad) to teach the fundamentals of creed, like sending Mu'adh to Yemen, and his dispatch was considered a binding proof. 3. If it is argued that creed cannot be established by isolated reports, then it could similarly be argued that practical rulings cannot be either. This would invalidate many Islamic rulings, as there is no difference between the two. 4. Allah Almighty commanded consulting the people of knowledge for those ignorant of great matters of creed, such as the divine message. This includes asking both individuals and groups.

In conclusion, an isolated report, if supported by circumstantial evidence of its truthfulness, conveys certain knowledge and establishes both practical and theoretical rulings.
