How can one overcome looking at women excessively?

Looking at what Allah has forbidden is dangerous for one's religion because it is a violation of Allah's command to lower the gaze, and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) command not to follow one glance with another. It is also dangerous for the heart, for looking is the heart's messenger to zina (unlawful sexual intercourse), and a cause of its sickness and disease. And it is dangerous for the body, for if the heart becomes sick and diseased, that affects the entire body. If the matter develops further, it becomes an infatuation that destroys both the body and the religion.
