Is it legislated to raise the finger during supplication, and is that sufficient in place of raising the hands?

It is prescribed to raise the index finger when supplicating or gesturing towards monotheism, as stated in the Sunnah regarding the sermon and the Tashahhud, and outside of prayer. However, this does not suffice for raising the hands in supplication, which demonstrates humility and submission to Allah Almighty, and is among the agreed-upon etiquettes of supplication. Many authentic narrations have been reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, concerning raising the hands in supplication.
