Is refusing to refund money after attending the first lecture, due to the venue's policy, considered unlawful (haram)?

As long as registration for studies entails commitment to paying the full fees, the administration is not at fault for refusing to refund money to someone who registered but did not attend lectures. This is because these institutions are in the position of an employee, and they are entitled to their wage simply by making themselves available for the benefit of the employer.
