Connecting with close relatives, such as maternal aunts, is a religious obligation, and it is not permissible to obey one's father in abandoning it, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is no obedience in disobedience; obedience is only in what is good." Be sure to maintain ties with your relatives without hurting your father's feelings, and apologize to him, explaining that maintaining kinship ties is an obligation that is not permissible to abandon.
