What is the ruling on worrying about one's parents for their benefit, such as forbidding them from consuming what harms them?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Allah has made it obligatory to honor one's parents, treat them kindly, and obey them in what is good. There is no blame in being concerned for them for their own benefit and striving to prevent them from what harms them; for that is part of being kind to them. One must deal with them gently and kindly, avoiding anything that hurts their feelings, and subtly guiding them for their benefit, especially in preventing sins, treating illnesses, and preventing anything that might worsen them.
