Is reading the daily prescribed supplications (ma'thurat) in a group an innovation (bid‘ah)? Thank you.

Scholars hold various opinions regarding congregational dhikr (remembrance of Allah). Some consider dhikr gatherings to be gatherings of knowledge (halal and haram), while Imam Malik disliked gathering for dhikr. Imam Ahmad, on the other hand, disliked it if it became a regular custom. Ibn Taymiyyah held that gathering for recitation, dhikr, and supplication is good, as long as it does not become a fixed sunnah or is accompanied by any forbidden acts. Al-Shatibi considered dhikr in a single voice to be an innovation. In contrast, Imam Al-Nawawi recommended sitting in dhikr circles, citing hadiths such as: "No group of people gather to remember Allah except that angels surround them..." As for gathering to recite "Al-Ma'thurat" (prescribed remembrances), there is no harm in it, as long as it does not become a fixed habit or is accompanied by something forbidden, such as congregational dhikr in a single voice.
