He must advise them gently and courteously if they commit a wrong, while avoiding argumentation and raising his voice. Abandoning parents or harming them through word or deed is forbidden by Islamic law. A father marrying off his daughters in secret is not a reprehensible act if two witnesses are present and it is not a secret marriage that is prohibited. The son must maintain ties with his parents, show affection towards them, and pray for their guidance.
