Does the wife have the right to compel her husband not to marry except a Thayyib (a woman who has been married before), or else she will seek divorce, and what should the husband do if she refuses?

A wife does not have the right to prevent her husband from marrying another, nor to force him to marry someone he does not desire. A man is not required to seek his first wife's permission or inform her if he wishes to marry a second wife, but he must treat them justly in terms of lodging, financial support, and clothing. A man is not obligated to grant his wife a divorce if she requests it without a legitimate Sharia-compliant reason, and he should explain to her that such a request is impermissible.
