Is it permissible to retract the dedication of a house as a waqf to be a mosque after its declaration in front of witnesses?
Source: FtawySummarized from the full answer at Ftawy · imported Sep 2, 2026
The endower is not permitted to revoke his endowment if he designated a house and made it a mosque and had it witnessed, because the endowment is effected by action accompanied by indicative evidence, such as his permission for people to pray in it. If the muezzin gives the call to prayer therein and people pray in congregation, then he has no right to revoke it, nor does it become an inheritance, due to the Almighty's saying: "And that the mosques are for Allah."
