What happened to the infidel village from which the People of the Cave fled, between the period in which they slept and the period in which they awoke, so that its people became believers and its king righteous? And did God send a messenger to them, or did He destroy the village and bring a believing people to inhabit it?

We do not have an infallible report regarding the story of the People of the Cave; rather, it is from the narrations of the Children of Israel. It was reported that they were sons of Roman kings, whom Allah blessed with Islam, so they withdrew from their people to the cave and slept for a long period, until their people perished and a Muslim nation emerged. Allah resurrected them to demonstrate that both the soul and the body will be resurrected. It is mentioned that Decius, the Roman king who promoted Zoroastrianism, persecuted them. When they entered the cave, the entrance was sealed, then Decius perished, circumstances changed, and a Muslim king arose. The religion is complete, and the stories of the Quran and Sunnah suffice over others.
