What is the ruling on wearing clothes that have a brand name whose meaning is unknown, and is it obligatory to investigate its meaning?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
We explained in 129091 the permissibility of wearing items bearing foreign logos of brands and the like, as long as they do not include a disbelieving symbol or a forbidden matter. It appears that there is no obligation to investigate the meaning of the brand, and it is sufficient to rely on the default principle – permissibility – unless the contrary is definitively proven. Investigating is preferable and more cautious, and it is not difficult.
