1 min readAlso available in العربية

This Surah has eight names mentioned by scholars in books of Tafsir, Sunnah, and Quranic sciences. They are: "Blessed is He in Whose hand is dominion," "Al-Mulk," "Al-Māniʿah (The Preventer)," "Tabārak al-Mulk (Blessed is the Dominion)," "Al-Munajjiyah (The Deliverer)," "Al-Wāqiyah (The Protector)," "Al-Māniʿah (The Preventer)," and "Al-Mannāʿah (The Great Preventer)." Al-Fakhr Al-Razi mentioned that Ibn Abbas used to call it "Al-Mujādilah (The Disputer)" because it disputes on behalf of its reciter when the two angels question him. It is Makki by unanimous agreement.
