It is not possible to definitively rank the best acts of worship because they are divided into inward (heart-felt) and outward (physical) acts. The absolute best act of worship is the testimony of monotheism (Shahada). As for the best physical act of worship, it is prayer (Salah) according to the more preponderant opinion. Thereafter, the opinions of scholars differed regarding the ranking of the remaining pillars of Islam. Some are of the view that prayer is better than fasting and all other physical acts of worship.

As for the differing Hadith narrations regarding the superiority of certain acts, they are understood to be specific answers to particular questions, suiting the circumstances of the questioner, or due to the presence of contextual clues indicating the intended meaning. Thus, what is best for one person might be Jihad, and for another, charity, and so on, depending on the person's situation and what is suitable for them.

It is recommended to maintain the obligatory duties, increase in supererogatory acts, and abstain from prohibitions, as this is among the best forms of obedience.
