Is there any blame on me if I perform Hajj first, and is there any sin or disobedience in delaying my mother’s and husband’s Hajj until next year? Is it not my right to choose the companions who would help me in piety during Hajj?

A man is not obligated to take his mother or wife for Hajj, nor does he sin by delaying it. However, facilitating Hajj for the mother and wife is an act of righteousness and kindness, and giving precedence to the mother is more appropriate. The wife is advised to assist her husband in showing kindness to his mother and helping her with Hajj, and to be patient accompanying her during Hajj, as there is reward in that. Furthermore, among the good manners of a wife is her excellent treatment of her husband's family and her helping him to honor his parents and maintain kinship ties. Responding to bad deeds with good deeds brings affection; as Allah Almighty says: "And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] with that which is better, and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend."
