Is the questioner considered responsible for the death of the bird that entered her workplace and hit the window across from the one it came in through after she tried to get it out?

There is no blame upon you for what happened to the sparrow, because it was the doer by itself. And even if you had been the one who compelled it to go, you would not have been intentional, due to the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: “Indeed, Allah has overlooked for my Ummah (nation) their mistakes, their forgetfulness, and what they are compelled to do.”
