Is the doctor alone responsible for the blood money of abortion if he performs the abortion at the command of the mother or father, and why is their command not considered like direct action, and is the blood money of the fetus one-tenth of the mother’s blood money or one-twentieth?

If the parents, or one of them, instruct the doctor to abort the fetus and he aborts it, then all are sinful. As for the blood money (diyya) and expiation (kaffarah), they are incumbent upon the one who directly carried out the killing, because he is closer [to the act] than the one who caused it. For "when the one who causes and the one who directly carries out [an act] come together, the ruling is attributed to the one who directly carries it out." The blood money for the fetus is one-tenth of its mother's blood money.
