What is the way to get rid of the feeling of guilt and unease after repenting from sins, and how can one deal with the inability to weep for fear that this might be an act of disobedience or insolence?

A person's regret over their sins and their weeping out of fear of punishment is evidence of the sincerity of their repentance. The penitent must hope for their Lord's mercy and think well of Him, for fear and hope are two wings for the believer. The questioner must adhere to repentance and increase in righteous deeds, and not despair of Allah's mercy which encompasses all things. Allah has promised those who repent that He will accept their repentance and transform their evil deeds into good ones. Allah Almighty says: "Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful." One must beware of despair and hopelessness regarding Allah's mercy, for it is more severe and greater than the sin itself. Allah Almighty says: "Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people," and Allah Almighty says: "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except those astray?"
