Is the deceased obligated to make up the prayers he missed due to his coma and severe illness that confined him to bed, and can the children do anything for him in this situation?

We ask Allah to grant your father vast mercy. Whoever is ill must pray according to their ability. If they are unable to stand or sit, they should pray on their side. Prayer is not forsaken as long as the person is conscious. However, in the case of a coma, there is no prayer due from them. You are not obligated to make up prayers for him, because prayer is not made up on behalf of the deceased. You should supplicate for him abundantly and give charity on his behalf, as that will benefit him by scholarly consensus.
