What is the interpretation of the noble verse: ((On the Day We will call forth every people with their Imam))? Is the intention here a nation with their Messenger, or their contemporary Imam whom they choose?

Shankiti stated in Adwa' al-Bayan that the verse, "The Day We shall call forth every people with their Imam (leader/record)," has been interpreted in several ways, including:

1. The "Imam" refers to their book of deeds, which Ibn Kathir preferred. 2. The "Imam" refers to their prophet, narrated by Qatadah and Mujahid. 3. It refers to their book revealed to their prophet, which Ibn Jarir al-Tabari preferred. 4. It refers to those whom they follow. So, for the people of faith, their Imams are the prophets, and for the people of disbelief, their Imams are their masters and leaders. This is the most apparent interpretation to Shankiti.

Shankiti also mentioned that the verse, "Then whoever is given his record in his right hand," is an indication supporting the view preferred by Ibn Kathir.
