What is the scientific difference between mountains (jibal) and firm stabilizers (rawasi) in the Qur’an?

There is no difference between mountains (جبال) and firm mountains/stabilizers (رواسي); rawasi is an attribute of jibal, and jibal are the huge and tall pegs of the earth. A mountain (jabal) becomes firm (yarsu) if its base is fixed in the earth. Allah Almighty has clarified that the rawasi were placed on earth to stabilize it and prevent it from moving or tilting, as stated in His saying: "And We placed in the earth firm mountains, lest it should shake with them" (Al-Anbiya: 31).
