What is the ruling on paying a sum of money for a university cultural program that includes poetry and music? And is this considered participation in sin, even if the money is for food? How should one respond to them? And is it permissible to donate to them despite the predominance of inappropriate things in the program?

Music and musical instruments are unanimously forbidden. Therefore, it is not permissible to support or participate in programs that include them, due to the Almighty's saying: "And do not cooperate in sin and aggression." Paying money to support program segments that include music is considered direct assistance in what is forbidden. However, if the money is spent on other matters, such as food, it is less severe, but it is safer to avoid it as well, to block the means leading to assistance in sin. Therefore, one must refrain from supporting such programs, and it is possible to stipulate their freedom from Sharia (definition) prohibitions as a condition for participation, while apologizing and clarifying the impermissibility of such acts.
