Do the words "yamūt" (to die) and "yatawaffā" (to be taken in full, to pass away) differ in meaning, especially in the context of the noble verse: "Indeed, I will take you in full and raise you to Myself" concerning Jesus, peace be upon him, knowing that he did not die?

The terms "Mawt" (death) and "Wafāh" (demise) are literally applied to the soul's departure from the body. Both are used metaphorically for sleep, as in the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "All praise is due to Allah who has given us life after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection," and Allah Almighty's saying: "And it is He who takes your souls by night." These two terms may also be used in other meanings, such as severe poverty, and this is understood from the context.
