Is it valid to seek absolution from backbiting or slander if they occurred via text message?

Backbiting is not limited to the tongue; it can occur through it or through other means, such as writing, or anything that conveys to others what the backbitten person dislikes, whether through innuendo, action, or gesture. Therefore, it is permissible to seek forgiveness for backbiting or slander, whether it occurred verbally or in writing, such as a mobile phone message. What is required is to seek permission from the person who was backbitten. However, if that is not possible for fear of increasing resentment or causing discord, then the matter is referred to Allah Almighty.
