What is the transmigration of souls (taqammus) that the Druze repeat, and what is the evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah against its existence?

Transmigration (Taqammus) among the Druze is the belief that the soul moves from one human body to another. They believe that the the soul does not die, but rather its "qamis" (garment/body) transmigrates. This is a false belief that contradicts the Quran and Sunnah, for Allah informs us that the soul is taken in death and seized, as in His Almighty saying: "Allah takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that do not die [He takes] during their sleep" (Quran 39:42), and His saying: "Every soul will taste death" (Quran 3:185). The death and seizure of the soul do not mean its annihilation; rather, it remains either in bliss or torment until it returns to its body. This is what the texts of the Quran and Sunnah indicate.
