Does a woman have a wet dream, and how can she distinguish it? Is a wet dream considered to be one if it occurs through masturbation or merely through sensation? Does it necessitate ghusl (ritual bathing) or invalidate the fast in Ramadan?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, answered concerning a woman's wet dream with the Hadith of Umm Sulaym, who asked, "Is a ghusl (ritual bath) incumbent upon a woman if she has a wet dream?" He replied, "If she sees water." This indicates that a woman can have a wet dream, and ghusl becomes obligatory upon seeing the water; otherwise, it is not. Wet dreams are less common in women than in men. A wet dream necessitates ghusl if fluid is discharged, but it does not invalidate the fast because it is not an action performed by the accountable person. However, masturbation while awake, if it results in ejaculation, invalidates the fast. We advise learning religious matters and striving against one's self to abandon obsessive thoughts.
