Is ablution valid if there is a smell of feces on the outer surface of the vulva after passing wind?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Istinjā’ (cleaning oneself with water) after passing wind is not prescribed, and there is no disagreement on this, as there is no evidence for it from the Qur’an or Sunnah. Wudhu’ (ablution) suffices. The mere scent of flatulence does not nullify wudhu’ unless its emission is confirmed. It is advised to stay away from obsessive thoughts and not to remain in the restroom longer than necessary.
