Will a Muslim die outside of Islam if they are unable to utter the Two Testimonies at the time of death due to a coma, despite their commitment to fasting and prayer and their knowledge of Islamic law?

It is not permissible to rule a Muslim, who is committed to prayer and fasting, as an unbeliever or as having a bad ending if he does not utter the two testimonies (Shahadatayn) at the time of death, unless he commits an act that nullifies Islam. Uttering the Shahada at the time of death is a sign of a good ending and entering Paradise, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever’s last words are ‘Lā ilāha illallāh (There is no god but Allah)’ will enter Paradise." However, not uttering it does not mean disbelief or a bad ending, especially if it is due to a coma, as one may enter Paradise for other reasons.
