Is it permissible for a girl who is engaged by her father’s command, and who does not feel comfortable (with the engagement), to speak with another young man with whom she previously had a relationship, knowing that this young man is willing to propose to her?

What is known as "love relationships" between young men and women is not approved by the Sharia. If a man and a woman love each other, marriage is the solution, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "We have not seen for two who love one another anything better than marriage." If marriage is not possible, then they must turn away from this attachment. The questioner must repent and cut off his relationship with that girl, and she must do the same. He has no concern with the matter of her marriage, and he must reform himself.
