What is the ruling on Al-Qaza' (leaving some hair and shaving other parts of the head), is it disliked?

Al-Qaza‘ is the act of shaving part of the head and leaving part of it. It has several forms, such as shaving in a disorderly manner, or shaving the middle and leaving the sides, or vice versa, or only shaving the forelock. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade Al-Qaza‘, as reported by Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, in the two Sahih collections. Nafi‘ explained it as shaving part of a child's head and leaving part of it. The prohibition of Al-Qaza‘ is understood to signify disfavor (makruh), unless it is done with the intention of imitating disbelievers or transgressors, in which case it becomes forbidden (haram).
