What is the ruling on the words of the anasheed (chanted poetry): "At Your door, O Most Generous, O Allah, at Your door, O You who ties and unties the rope, we are Your seekers in our hands"?

As for the phrase "على بابك" (at Your door), it is permissible, and we do not know of any scholar who has prohibited its use. It has been narrated in a supplication of some of the predecessors: "And from patience, except at Your door."

As for the phrase "تعقد الحبل وتحله" (You tie the rope and untie it), its meaning is: O You who manages affairs, in whose hand is relief and hardship, You relieve distress for whoever seeks from You and asks You. These are permissible words, with no شرعي (Islamic legal) prohibition in them, even though adhering to the narrated (supplications) is more preferable.
