To what extent is the campaign "Month of Compassion" legitimate, which aims to involve non-Muslims in learning about Islam and the Prophet, and seeks recognition for the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal as an International Day of Compassion, instead of celebrating the Prophet's Birthday (Mawlid)?

The definition of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the clarification that he is the Prophet of Mercy, should be an ongoing effort throughout the year. It is not permissible to dedicate the month of Rabi' al-Awwal or its twelfth day specifically for this, as it constitutes an innovation in religion. This is one of the devil's entrances to solidify bid'ah (innovation). The Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, did not celebrate his birth nor did they give any special distinction to the month of Rabi' al-Awwal or its twelfth day. All good lies in following the predecessors, and all evil lies in the innovations of those who came after.
