What are the consequences of swearing by triple divorce not to go with the wife alone to her maternal uncle's house again, and is there an expiation or a way to annul it, given that the wife has no one but her maternal uncle?

If the husband goes with his wife to visit her maternal uncle without any of her brothers being present, the wife is divorced by three pronouncements and becomes irrevocably separated (baynunah kubra). She does not become lawful for him again unless she marries another man, he consummates the marriage with her, and then either divorces her or dies, and her waiting period (iddah) expires. This is the view of the majority of scholars. Some scholars hold that if the oath was intended as a threat and not as an actual pronouncement of divorce, then no divorce occurs, and an expiation for breaking an oath (kaffarat yamin) is due. Ibn Taymiyyah held that if the intention was to effect a divorce, then only one pronouncement of divorce occurs. It must be noted that the permissible oath is by Allah Almighty, whereas swearing by divorce is among the oaths of the dissolute and can have dire consequences.
