What is the ruling on the money of a husband who works as a manager of a hotel that serves alcohol, and is it unlawful for the wife to benefit from it, knowing that she has repeatedly advised him and he has refused to change his profession?

Your husband must prevent the serving of alcoholic beverages in the hotel he manages. Otherwise, he must leave it and seek permissible employment, because his current work makes his earnings mixed. The Jordanian Dar Al-Ifta (Fatwa Council) has issued a religious edict stating that it is impermissible to work as a manager of a hotel that serves alcohol, because it constitutes participation in a forbidden act, and a portion of his salary is unlawful.

Accordingly, your husband's wealth is mixed, between lawful and unlawful. The preponderant opinion among us is that it is permissible to benefit from mixed wealth unless the unlawful portion predominates. Therefore, there is no sin upon you in eating from his money and benefiting from it.

We advise you to explain the ruling on his work to him, and remind him of the virtue of pure earnings, and that whoever abandons something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better. And whoever relies on Allah, He will suffice him, citing the Almighty's saying: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him."
