Is it permissible or forbidden to sell numbered tickets for a random drawing on a specific product, where the profit comes from the sale of these tickets?

It is not permissible to sell tickets for a raffle on a product where one buyer wins, because it is considered prohibited gambling and forbidden maysir (gambling), as Allah Almighty says: "O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone altars [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful." The reality of gambling is the oscillation between gain and loss. The buyer may win and gain, or may not win and lose what he paid, as the tickets have no value other than participation in the draw. Gambling is one of the major sins and a way of consuming people's wealth unlawfully.
