Is it possible for a person to afflict himself or his children with the evil eye if he praises them, despite saying, "Masha'Allah, there is no strength except in Allah," and what should he do in this case?

The evil eye is real and can be treated with ruqyah (incantations), seeking refuge in Allah, and supplication. To prevent the evil eye before it occurs, one should avoid mentioning the good qualities of someone feared to be afflicted by it, seek assistance through discretion in fulfilling needs, and conceal the virtues of those one fears for. Moreover, whoever sees something that pleases him should invoke blessings and say, "Masha'Allah" (What Allah wills) or "Masha'Allah la quwwata illa billah" (What Allah wills, there is no power except with Allah). One should also seek refuge for those feared to be afflicted by the evil eye by reciting the two 'Mu'awwidhatayn' (Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas). Among the means of protection from the evil eye is seeking refuge in Allah from it. And whoever fears that they might afflict others with the evil eye should lower their gaze.
