How was the Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) created in relation to pregnancy?

1. Allah commanded Gabriel to blow into the opening of Mary's garment, and the breath entered her womb, becoming a soul. This is evident from the verses: ﴿فَنَفَخْنَا فِيهَا مِن رُّوحِنَا﴾ (So We breathed into her of Our spirit) and ﴿فَنَفَخْنَا فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِنَا﴾ (So We breathed into him of Our spirit). Gabriel's saying, ﴿لِأَهَبَ لَكِ غُلَامًا زَكِيًّا﴾ (that I may grant you a pure boy), indicates that the blowing was by Allah's command.

2. Exegists differed regarding the duration of Jesus's gestation. The well-known opinion among the majority is nine months. Some said it was moments, but this statement is unclear and not supported by texts. Had it been so, they would not have accused her of fornication.

3. Ibn Kathir and Al-Shanqiti clarify that the original understanding is that Mary's pregnancy was like the usual pregnancies of women, although its beginning was extraordinary.

4. Some ignorant people used the verse ﴿وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي﴾ (and I breathed into him of My spirit) as proof that Jesus is a part of Allah's spirit. Ibn Al-Qayyim explained that what is attributed to Allah is of two types: attributes that do not subsist by themselves (like knowledge and power), and separate entities (like the House, the she-camel, and the servant). The attribution of "spirit" here is of the second type, and it is an attribution of honor and veneration for the creature, not meaning that it is a part of Allah's essence.
