What is the ruling on the previous prayers that I performed after seeing the yellowish discharge, believing that it was purity, and am I sinful for them, and does performing ghusl at that time suffice?
The preponderant opinion is that yellowish and brownish discharges are considered menstruation during the time it is possible. Therefore, it is not permissible to rush to perform (ritual purification) upon seeing a yellowish discharge connected to menstruation. Rather, one must wait until seeing purity with one of its two signs: dryness or the white discharge. As for the prayers and fasting that preceded, it is permissible to act according to the opinion of those who do not consider yellowish discharges menstruation at all. The prayer is valid, and there is no sin upon the woman. Acting according to the less preferred opinion is acceptable after the matter has occurred and rectifying it is difficult.
