It is obligatory upon the Muslim to believe in what the Quran and Sunnah have indicated and what the predecessors of the Ummah have unanimously agreed upon. Meanwhile, the Mutakallimun (the scholastic theologians), such as the Ash'aris, Maturidis, and Mu'tazilis, have contravened the apparent meanings of the Quran and Sunnah and what the predecessors have unanimously agreed upon, concerning matters of creed like faith (Iman), divine decree (Qadar), the رؤية (vision of God), the Uluw (Allah's transcendence and highness), and the khabari (reported) attributes [of Allah].

To distinguish between the claim of the Salafis and the Ash'aris that they are the Ahl al-Sunnah (People of the Sunnah), it is recommended to refer to the books of the predecessors like "Al-Sunnah" by Abdullah ibn Ahmad and "Al-Ibanah" by Ibn Battah, as well as contemporary books such as "Manhaj al-Asha'irah fi al-Aqidah" by Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Mahmoud.

The student should focus on establishing the fundamentals of the Salafi creed before critiquing the beliefs of other sects, by studying books such as "Kitab al-Tawhid" by Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab and "Al-Aqidah al-Wasitiyyah."
