Is it permissible to slaughter a 280-kilogram calf for 'Aqiqah?

Nothing suffices for the 'Aqiqah except what suffices for the Udhiyah. The size of the animal is not considered; rather, it is the attainment of the legal age that matters. As for cattle, only those that have reached two years or more are sufficient, and they must be free from defects that would prevent their sufficiency. The rulings of the 'Aqiqah are the same as those of the Udhiyah in all respects, except that partnership in the blood is not permissible for it.
