Is it permissible to use an unstitched cotton cover to conceal the 'awrah during ihram?

The pilgrim in ihram must cover his nakedness with unstitched cloth made of cotton or other material. "Stitched" refers to what is tailored to fit a limb, not merely something that contains thread. This is based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "He shall not wear shirts, nor turbans, nor trousers, nor cloaks (burnus)." Scholars have analogously included everything tailored to fit a limb, such as jubbahs (gowns) and dara'ah (long shirts). This ruling applies specifically to males. As for females, they are permitted to wear stitched garments, with the exception of the niqab (face veil) and gloves.
