Why have religions multiplied, and why was there not only one religion, which is Islam? And why did the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, marry more than four wives, even though the Sharia permitted a man only four wives?
One should avoid those who engage in futile arguments, except for someone who possesses the knowledge to refute their misconceptions. The question of multiple religions among the prophets is erroneous, for the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam, and all messengers were sent with monotheism. The laws (shariahs) of the prophets differed for the benefit of their communities and were abrogated by the law of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. The Prophet's marriage to more than four women was one of his unique privileges and profound wisdoms.
