What is the ruling on whistling and humming it?

Some scholars have reported the dislike of whistling. Allah has condemned the polytheists by saying: "And their prayer at the House was nothing but whistling and clapping." (8:35). "Muka'" (مكاء) is whistling. They would perform whistling and clapping instead of supplication and glorification. Therefore, a Muslim should avoid this act.
