What is the meaning of: "Righteousness does not perish"?

"Righteousness does not decay" is part of a weak hadith narrated by Al-Bayhaqi. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, explained righteousness as good character. Scholars interpret it to mean connection, kindness, good companionship, and obedience.
