Is it obligatory to repeat the entire verse when making a mistake in reciting the Qur’an, both within and outside of prayer?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If the reciter makes a mistake in reciting the Quran, he must stop and repeat the recitation correctly, making sure to start with words that convey a complete meaning. If the word in which he erred is the head of a verse, or a word in the middle of a verse that is appropriate to start with without disrupting the meaning, he may repeat only that word and then continue. However, if the word is not appropriate to start with, he must go back to a place before that word from which it is appropriate to start, or return to the beginning of the verse if it is not long.
