What is the authenticity of the hadith: "The reward of the teacher is like the reward of one who fasts and prays at night," and who narrated it?

The hadith "The reward of the teacher is like the reward of one who fasts and prays at night" has not been authentically narrated from the Prophet, peace be upon him. Scholars have not found it in the traditions of the Companions, the Tabi'in, or the sayings of the leading Imams. Al-Mawardi mentioned it with the صيغة (wording) "It was narrated," indicating its lack of authenticity. Furthermore, many fabricated hadiths have been concocted regarding the virtues of the teacher, but the authentic hadiths suffice, such as his (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, Allah, His angels, the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth—even the ant in its hole and the fish—send blessings upon the one who teaches people good."
