What is the merit of (In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful)?

The virtue of the Basmala lies in Allah the Almighty commencing the Holy Quran with it, and in many matters, such as acts of worship and permissible deeds, beginning with it. It also serves as a screen against jinn for covering private parts, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The screen between the eyes of the jinn and the private parts of the children of Adam, when one of them enters the toilet, is to say: 'Bismillah (In the name of Allah).'"
