Is there freedom in Islam, and if so, what is its nature?

Freedom in Islam is neither absolute nor non-existent. Islam is a religion of moderation, and it came to preserve the dignity of women and prevent their exploitation. Thus, it restricted their freedom in ways that conform to Sharia, such as the requirement of a guardian (wali) for marriage. This restriction is necessary to prevent corruption. An example of this is enjoining good and forbidding evil. As the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said in the parable of the ship: "If they leave them to do what they want, they will all perish, but if they take them by their hands, they will be saved and save all of them." With this freedom, regulated by the constraints of Sharia, the ship reaches safety.
