How can a divorce oath be analyzed after swearing that nothing would leave the house?

If someone swears an oath of divorce that something will not leave the house, then there is nothing binding on him as long as that thing does not leave. However, if it does leave, then divorce occurs according to the majority of scholars, in contrast to Ibn Taymiyyah, who holds that an expiation for an oath (kaffarat yamin) is required if the intention was not divorce itself, but rather to prevent or to threaten. This oath cannot be revoked or dissolved, and the only way out is for the intended item not to leave.
