Is it permissible to act upon the fatwa that suits a person when there is a difference in fatwas among madhhabs or countries?

Fatwa necessitates deep knowledge of the Qur’an, Sunnah, and Ijma‘ (scholarly consensus), prioritizing the strongest evidence when there is a contradiction. It is not permissible for the Mufti to seek out the dispensations (rukhṣ) of the madhhabs (schools of thought) or the errors of scholars. The questioner (mustaftī) should ask someone whose knowledge and piety they trust, and when there is a difference of opinion, prioritize the answer based on the Mufti’s knowledge and taqwā (piety). The Mufti’s fatwa does not excuse the questioner before Allah if the questioner knows that the inner reality is contrary to what he was advised, just as a fatwa does not permit what causes hesitation in one’s heart or contradicts the Sunnah.
